About the Product
Fly Like an Eagle is the ninth studio album by the Steve Miller Band. The album was released in May 1976 by Capitol Records in North America and Mercury Records in Europe. The album was a success, spawning three singles: the title track, "Take the Money and Run" and "Rock'n Me". It hit #11 in UK and #3 in USA where it shifted over 4 million units.
This was their big breakthrough commercial success. There was still the connection to their psychedelic origins with the opening synth passage leading into Fly Like An Eagle echoing Children of the Future's first side, eight years previously. The title track had been around in the SMB gig list for three years, starting life with a more obvious reggae vibe to it. My fave track is The Window with its All Along The Watchtower-style riff and a lovely hippie lyric. If you listen to the live performances around this time he turns it into a major guitar workout with the sort of tasty soloing which the cover artwork hints at. A brilliant record.
