Manassas played at least 74 shows in 1972, 56 in the USA including this show at Stanford University. They played 4 UK shows that year too, one weirdly, at Norfolk Showgrounds just outside Norwich. They were a short-lived but fondly remembered band that Stephen Stills put together. They released two albums both of which sold really well, the self-titled debut made #4 in USA and the follow-up ‘Down The Road’ #26 on the Billboard chart. They played 35 gigs in 1973 and that was it for the band. Later Stills said “Manassas was such a terrific band. It really had some structure and reminded me of the Buffalo Springfield at its best. Manassas could play anything."
