The Lemon Pipers were a short-lived 1960s American rock band from Oxford, Ohio, United States, known chiefly for their song "Green Tambourine", which reached No. 1 in the United States in 1968. The song has been credited as being the first bubblegum pop chart-topper. They once appeared at the Fillmore West in San Francisco on the same bill with Traffic, Moby Grape and Spirit on March 21, 1968. The song Green Tambourine entered the Billboard Hot 100 at the end of 1967 and reached No. 1 in February 1968 on the Billboard and Cashbox charts. The song peaked at No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart, and was also a hit worldwide. It sold over two million copies. The album peaked at #90 in America. This is the German release’s cover.
