Alexis Korner – Bootleg Him! (1972)

The godfather of the British blues boom, this was a compilation album which pulled together tracks from Alexis’ Blues Incorporated days as well as his other bands New Church, CCS and some solo work too.

The performers on the tracks read like a who’s who of UK blues music. Hard to underestimate how influential he was. He was at the absolute centre of the development of the blues in the UK in the early to mid 60s and was even recording with Robert Plant when Jimmy Page was putting together the New Yardbirds which of course became Led Zeppelin.

This 1972 compilation, a double, is hard to get hold of these days in the UK on vinyl and is notable for having a great cover of what might be some sort of musical space hipster astronaut designed by the famous Roger Dean.
