About the Product
The second solo album from the former Genesis man was released in 1978. A smooth and quite lush album, it could be said to be proggy though perhaps not as much as his first The Geese and the Ghost which to all intents and purposes sounds like a Genesis album of quiet moments, with Phil Collins singing on three tracks and Mike Rutherford helping produce it and playing too.
Produced by Rupert Hine and with stalwart Mel Collins on sax, it didn’t make the charts. Not surprising really, this was 1978 and a kind of pastoral Mike Oldfield-ish sound was at odds with punk and new wave. Artist Peter Cross’s lovely artwork featured on a few of his records.
I'd highly recommend his 1970s albums to anyone who loves that gentle, lush, yet quiet Genesis-type sound.
