Originally released as an LP with 7" EP, Live! In the Air Age is an impressive testament to the band's prowess as a live act and Bill Nelson's undercover status as a guitar hero. Time and again he cuts loose with blistering, treble-drenched searing solos, no better than on Scenes From A Yorkshire Landscape which aches with thunder and rain of the county that birthed the song. They probably fell between too many stools to be super huge as a band, perhaps too arty for a heavy rock crowd and too rock for an arty crowd, I love every single one of their records and find them consistently thrilling and have always been a blazing apostle for their work. This was their peak of commerciality reaching #10 in the UK charts even in 1977 at the height of punk. In USA it came out on white vinyl and the EP was a 12" which sounds rather nice. Must try and find a copy.
