Indian violinist but unrelated to Ravi, his full name is Shankar Lakshminarayana and was in Zappa's band at one time and also in Shakti. He also wrote the Soundtrack with Peter Gabriel for The Last Temptation Of Christ in 1989. He's also performed with Elton John, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Yoko Ono, Stewart Copeland, John Waite, Charly García, Steve Vai, Ginger Baker, Nils Lofgren, Jonathan Davis and Sting.
